ABOUT THE FAMILY
Dina and Jorge have lived in Puerto Peñasco for the past two years, having relocated from San Luis Rio Colorado. They have been married for 15 years and have 4 children. The oldest three, Bram, Adal and Jorge Jr are in school, and Angel, just 3 is still at home. Jorge works in a local restaurant and Dina is home with the children. Dina’s brother, Sinoc lives with them as well. He has a job delivering water and his income helps support the family as well. Currently they are renting a property. They have been paying for their land lot, but with the rental payments and daily living expenses, they do not have the means to be able to build a home on their own. A house from 1MISSION would give this family a safe and decent home of their own, and allow Dina and Jorge to focus their limited resources on meeting their family’s needs and on working towards a better future.
HOW THIS FAMILY EARNED THEIR HOUSE
Our Earning by Learning initiative gives families the opportunity to build at their own capacity while at the same time, furthering sustainable development in their own community. Families can participate in classes centered on home budgeting, gardening, sewing, basic education and much more. Families also become connected with their communities by participating in projects such as building each other’s homes, cleaning their neighborhoods, and serving in local schools and churches. This sustainable approach results in community development that multiplies from neighbor to neighbor. By participating in their community, families not only work together, but they feel the support of their neighbors and develop relationships of trust and shared burdens.
100% of donations from this campaign will go to 1MISSION's projects and programs in the field.
